(“Secure Channels” or “The Company”) is dedicated to establishing trusting relationships with all individuals who visit the Web site, based on respect for personal identity and information, by promoting the use of fair information practices. This policy applies only to the SCIFCOM Web site ( Secure Channels encourages you to read this Privacy Policy and those of all Web sites you visit.
Because Secure Channels wants to demonstrate its commitment to our visitors’ privacy, in this Privacy Policy the Company is disclosing:

Information Collection and Use

Information Collection

Secure Channels collects information from visitors to the Web site using cookies, clear gifs, and log files and as well as information provided by visitors through the Partner, Press, and Contact portions of the Web site.


A cookie is a piece of data stored on the visitor’s computer and is tied to information about the visitor. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the SCIFCOM Web site. Secure Channels may use both persistent cookies and session ID cookies. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the visitor’s hard drive for an extended period. Persistent cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our visitors to enhance the experience on our site. See the “Profile” section, below. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. A session ID cookie terminates once a visitor closes the browser. If a visitor chooses to disable cookies in the browser, the visitor can still access most of the Web site. However, some areas of the Web site may not allow you to complete certain functions if cookies are disabled. The Company can only read cookies from Secure Channels Web sites.
Some of Secure Channels’ business partners may use cookies on the SCIFCOM Web site (for example, advertisers). However, Secure Channels cannot access or control cookies used by business partners, once Secure Channels has given permission for business partners to set cookies for advertising. This Privacy Policy applies only to the use of cookies on the Web site only and does not apply to the use of cookies by any advertisers.


Secure Channels may store information collected through cookies, log files, and third parties to create visitor profiles. A profile may store information that Secure Channels keeps to track the viewing preferences of individual visitors. In such cases, collected information is linked to personally identifiable information which may be used to provide offers and/or improve site content for the visitor. Profile information may also be used to customize a visitor’s experience on the Web site, and to direct relevant marketing promotions to visitors. Secure Channels does not share personally identifiable profile information with third parties. Visitor profile information is shared in aggregate form only.

Log Files

Secure Channels servers use log files to analyze trends, administer the SCIFCOM Web site, track visitor’s movement in the aggregate, and gather general demographic information for aggregate use. Visitor IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Clear Gifs

Clear gifs, or Web beacons, are small graphics with a unique identifier and are similar in function to cookies. Secure Channels may use clear gifs to track the online movements of visitors on the Web site. Clear gifs are not visible on Web pages and are much smaller than cookies (approximately the size of the period at the end of this sentence). Clear gifs are not associated with visitors’ personally identifiable information.
Secure Channels may place Web beacons on certain Web pages to allow the Company to compile anonymous, aggregated Web site usage statistics. Secure Channels may also use clear gifs in HTML-based emails gather information about which emails (or articles, links, etc.) have been opened by recipients. This information allows the Company to measure the effectiveness of specific communications and marketing campaigns.

Information Use

This information is used in the following ways:
  1. Customer Feedback and Support provides a mechanism for requesting information from Secure Channels. This information is also used to tell Secure Channels how the Company can improve its products, services, and Web site designs.
  2. Email Correspondence is used to raise and respond to issues and inquiries of all types. Email is also used to distribute information about Secure Channels, its products, and its services.
  3. Partner, Investor Relations, Press and Sales data are used to distribute requested information about Secure Channels and to establish contact with appropriate Secure Channels personnel.
  4. If you submit your resume as a prospective employee, Secure Channels may use your personal information for recruitment purposes. If you are offered a position or become employed by Secure Channels, the Company will use your information for other employment-related purposes.

Third Party Advertising

Secure Channels may include third-party advertising on the Web site. In such cases, the advertisements would be delivered to visitors through the third-party advertising partners. Information about Web site visits, such as the number of times a visitor has viewed an ad (but not the visitor’s name, address, or other personal information), may be used to display ads to specific a visitor on the Web site. Third party advertising partners do not have access to personally identifiable information.
This Privacy Policy applies to the use of cookies by the Web site only and does not apply to the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Children’s Privacy

Secure Channels does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If the Company learns that it has the personal information of a child under the age of 13, Secure Channels will delete that information from our systems. Secure Channels encourages parents to go online with their children and to monitor their internet usage. To help make children’s online experiences safer:
  1. Teach children to never provide personal information without supervision by a parent or responsible adult. Personal information includes name, address, phone, school, etc.
  2. Be aware of the sites your children visit and which sites are appropriate.
  3. Read Web site privacy policies to understand how your child’s information is treated.

Communications from the Site

Alerts and Other Communications

While visiting the Web site, visitors may choose to subscribe to various news articles and other alerts. Each such communication has instructions on how to unsubscribe. In addition, you can unsubscribe directly on the Web site. You also can submit questions or comments or request information about the Company’s products or services. Secure Channels responds to such requests as appropriate.


Secure Channels does not share information obtained from visitors to the Web site except as otherwise specifically set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Legal Disclaimer

Secure Channels makes every effort to preserve visitor privacy. However, the Company may need to disclose personal information when required by law or to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, a legal process served on our Web site, or to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activity.

Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)

Secure Channels may share aggregated demographic information with partners and advertisers. This information is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Third Party Intermediaries

Secure Channels may reply on third parties to host certain portions of the Web site or to respond to certain requests for information from Web site visitors. Third-party companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Business Transactions

In the event Secure Channels is subject to a business transition, such as a merger, an acquisition by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, visitors’ personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. You will be notified prior to a change of ownership or control of your personal information. If because of the business transition, your personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, you will be able to choose not to have your personally identifiable information as described in the notification of changes section.


The Web site includes links to other Web sites. Secure Channels is not responsible for the privacy practices of other Web sites. When you leave the SCIFCOM Web site, it is recommended that you read the privacy statements of each Web site that collects personally identifiable information, including Secure Channels’ other Web sites. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by Secure Channels through the Web site. Secure Channels maintains advertising and affiliate relationships with third-party sites which may direct visitors to SCIFCOM Web sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected on third-party Web sites. Secure Channels has co-branding relationships with some Web sites. A site is a co-brand of Secure Channels if it offers Secure Channels products or services to users under a different brand. Co-branded Web sites will have their own specific privacy policies specific to each site. Visitors are advised to read the privacy policies of third-party Web sites before registration.


Secure Channels takes every reasonable precaution to protect visitors’ information. When visitors submit personally identifiable information via the Web site, their information is protected online and offline.
The SCIFCOM Web site uses SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online. The Company also uses security measures to protect visitor information offline. All visitor information is restricted in Secure Channels offices. Employees are only allowed access to personally identifiable information if the information is necessary to perform a specific job function (for example, our billing clerks or a customer service representative). Servers that store personally identifiable information are maintained in a secure environment.

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information

If a visitor’s personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone number, email or postal address), or if a visitor no longer wants to receive previously-requested information from Secure Channels, the visitor can normally update, correct, or delete/deactivate personally identifiable information by contacting appropriate Secure Channels personnel or opting out of requested communications on the SCIFCOM Web site.

Notification of Changes

If Secure Channels changes this Privacy Policy, the Company will post all changes in this Privacy Policy, and other places we deem appropriate, to inform visitors to the Web site what information is collected, how it is used, and under which circumstances, if any, it is disclosed. Secure Channels will use information in accordance with the Privacy Policy under which the information was collected. In some cases, Secure Channels will notify site visitors of changes to this Privacy Policy by email if those visitors have opted to receive email notifications.
If Secure Channels intends to use visitors’ personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, Secure Channels will notify visitors via email. Visitors will be able to choose whether to allow personally identifiable information in this different manner.

Data Retention

The duration that Secure Channels keeps information may vary depending on how the specific information is used. In some cases, there are legal requirements to keep data for a minimum period. If there is not a specific legal requirement for Secure Channels to keep information, the Company will not keep information longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
